Another awesome wine event is in the books as this past weekend I was fortunate to attend, what I think is the biggest wine event of the year, at the kjwines estate in Santa Rosa. We had a really busy Saturday! We started out showing our SB and a vertical of cabernets at the beautiful #tasteofsonoma. Lucky us we had some really friendly neighbor tables with #merryedwards, #korbelchampagne and #kobler. Then we jumped over Hwy 101 to the Luther Burbank Center to pour at the awards dinner for #loscien. Check out the sweet cumbia and low riders! Sipping, savoring and celebrating Sonoma County wines! Fun, action-packed highlights from the Sonoma County Vinters' annual Taste of Sonoma event, which was held this past weekend at Kendall-Jackson Wine Estate & Gardens in Windsor! Fun wines and fun people SonomaCountyVintners' #TasteofSonoma on Saturday KJWines. Well more than a hundred wineries participated in this #SonomaCounty wine and food showcase. . . Checked in first GloriaFerrerWinery's bubble lounge for a sip of Brut Rosé and a catch-up w/ZiggytheWineGal. . . After fortification via a BlackPiglet BLT from Duskie_Estes (pic 2), it was off to the races. Liked all three of the offerings SaintsburyWinery (pic 3), particularly the Sangiacomo Vineyard Chardonnay. . . That's wine writer Dan Berger, left, in pic 4 sipping 2021 Carignane (a favorite of the day) RidgeVineyards' table. I also liked the 2019 Estate Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Brenda Bullington StuhlmullerVineyards is holding in pic 5. . . I'd never tried the wines Alison Green-Doran makes for her Hoot Owl Creek label. She was pouring her 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon (pic 6), which like the Stuhlmuller seemed very much of its (also Alexander Valley) place. Loved it. . . Another Chardonnay that impressed was the 2021 Mascarin Chardonnay Dalya Sachs DalyaEstate Vineyard (she supplies the grapes) is holding in pic 7. I tasted some earlier vintages by Matt Taylor 32WindsWine from this 2-acre vineyard, and this was right up there with them. . . Serena Lourie CartographWines, in pic 8 with winemaker Alan Baker, is holding their 2019 Estate Pinot Noir, whose dense presence tickled my palate—this one's going to age very well, I think. . . Then it was off to see my pal Rickey TrombettaWine, who intrigued me with her 2021 Indindoli Vineyard Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. Her daughter, Erica Stancliff, who makes the Trombetta wines, dropped by a few minutes later with ChampagneAndReservations, Decanter mag's newly minted Sonoma correspondent, which made it a party. . . Last stop of the day was PointReyesCheese, where that nice Leigh (pic 10) turned me on to Quinta, a soft-rind cheese wrapped in bay leaf–scented spruce bark. So good with melon and Carr's crackers the next day. . . I cover several dozen #SonomaCountyVintners members for FodorsTravel's Napa / #Sonoma guide. New edition in a few weeks!
